To the Members of the YPD,
Another holiday season is upon us and while many of our students have traveled home to be with their families for Thanksgiving, we still work to keep the remaining community members and campus safe.
Last year we had fair skies and 60 degree temperatures. This year we are going to have a cold and wintry mix. So a bit more challenging for those walking, cycling or driving the beat. But I know everyone is always ready to protect our community regardless of the season or weather. And I'm proud of that and all of you.
During this holiday, we give thanks for the love of our families. We hope for their continued good health and give thanks for the delicious food on our tables and being able to spend time with cherished friends.
I wanted to take this time to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication today and throughout the year. The YPD is a great police department because of the men and women who represent it every day on the streets.
I wish you and your families a very happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving.
Enjoy the holiday. And keep safe out there!
Ronnell Higgins, Chief Yale Police Department and Director of Public Safety
