Beginning Needlework
George T. Bacalakis started needlepointing in first grade in Australia, having lived in London for some time he attended the Royal School of Needlework and concentrated on design. In 1970 he began custom designing canvases and in 1978 established a needlepoint knitting shop in Sarasota Florida. In 1991, he moved to Virginia and established Art Needlework. The designs are all hand painted on mono canvas and cover numerous functional uses. Many custom designs for customers in USA, Canada, England France and Spain.

Charity Knitting Group Projects

SATURDAYS FOR SOMEONE ELSE (2-5pm) has kicked off with a bang! We currently have 7 participants and welcome knitters/crocheters of all skill levels.

Our January focus has been NICU hats for Women's and Children's Hospital.  W
e've donated almost 20, and Bex's other supporters brought in another 20.

One other project is a shared knitted afghan for Lee Elementary School's March 1 silent auction to support their emphasis on the arts. We have the pieces knit, just need to put it together. Two beginning knitters are working on Warm-Up America rectangles and knitted toys for children who have none.

For February, we will emphasize Warm-Up America and Linus Project blankets. The preferred size is a 7"x9" rectangle, but we can piece smaller items as well. So, even if you can't join us, please knit and crochet at home and bring things to Bex. You know, you could even do your swatches as 7x9s.

Looking forward (as always!) to the weekend -
