Great conversation with Saints fan about seeing love and positivity in the world...
I had the fine fortune to attend a Bills game live Sunday. I don't really do these type things often. I believe the last time was 7 years ago, but I must say I THOROUGHLY enjoyed every second of it. I guess I'm not a win/lose kind of person so the fact that we got crushed didn't really matter to me. I met so many great people. So many Saints fans come out of Canada! Wow! And the tailgating thing? Still recovering. I most like that sport and music venues and big events bring together so many people from different walks of life and make you realize we are all connected. We are more similar than different. I think the media can sometimes focus on hatred and bigotry when there are so many other instances of love and togetherness that happen all the time! If you are looking for and expecting hatred to be prevalent than yes you will find it. But if you are looking for and expecting love, then this is what surrounds you. It is The Law of Attraction.  The world is a beautiful place and people are for the most part good. Now how about that streaker?? HAHAHA! Go Bills!
:)  Peace & Blue Skies, Donna Bennett

Rolling Stone, New Yorker illustrator to exhibit at FLCC

Most every day, David Cowles takes to social media with birthday greetings to famous musicians, actors and politicians. Each post includes a caricature by Cowles of the celeb; on Oct. 31, he paid homage to journalist Dan Rather, '90s pop icon Vanilla Ice and the late movie star John Candy.

The Instagram and Twitter posts have become something of a hobby that come with the perk of self-promotion. Not that Cowles needs the help: His illustrations has been in some of the biggest publications anywhere: Rolling Stone, Time, The New Yorker, and Entertainment Weekly, to name a few.

A collection of Cowles' work will soon be featured in an exhibit in Williams-Insalaco Gallery 34 at Finger Lakes Community College. Called "The Art of David Cowles," the show opens on Thursday, Nov. 16. Cowles will talk about his work at 1 p.m., and an appetizers reception will follow from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public.  Read more.

Diabetes Requires Daily Care
If you or a loved one is a diabetic, educate yourself and family members by asking your health care provider plenty of questions. With practice and knowledge you will become an expert in caring for yourself or a loved one.
Taking care of you is important. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, eye problems, kidney disease, nerve damage, and increased risk of infections. Self-care can help prevent problems. Self-care may include:
    1. Blood sugar monitoring -a simple blood test can tell you what your blood sugar level is.
    2. Meal Planning - By learning how different foods affect your blood sugar level, you can plan healthy and enjoyable meals
    3. Keeping Fit - balance exercise with meal planning and medication. (Always talk to your health care provider before starting on an exercise program).
    4. Quit Smoking -smoking greatly increases your risk for complications of diabetes. Discuss with your health care provider ways to quit.
    5. Taking Insulin - insulin lowers blood sugar. Discuss with your health care provider when and how to take your insulin.
    6. Managing other meds - like insulin there are other medications that can help control blood sugar. Make sure you understand how and when to take these medications to achieve the maximum benefit for you.
This information on diabetes is brought to you by Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe.
