Happy Mothers Day!

This weekend we celebrate the most important person in our lives, our mothers. Join us in honoring your mother and all mothers around the world by doing what they do every day: making the world a better place.

You can always support children in need to go to school in order to help their mothers who are bound by poverty, social boundaries and lack of resources. Your support can change lives for generations to come. Mothers are the ones who define the future of their children.

We also started two new initiatives that I hope you will join us to support. First, our main annual food campaign that helps thousands of families with a food basket. This year we are planning to help feed more families.

Our second campaign is to help children of miners who died in a horrifying accident. Child Foundation is planning to cover the cost of education for their children.

Please help any of these campaigns or just visit our sponsorship page to sponsor a child in need to help them go to school.

1000 Food Basket for 1000 Families

Child Foundation's most popular program around this time of year has been " One Thousand Baskets for One Thousand Families". Last year, we were able to help more than one thousand families in different countries.

The program is usually initiated just before the start of the month of Ramadan, which is the traditional month of fasting, but also of genuine selflessness and display of charity to others.

The program's success and popularity mainly comes from its simple but powerful message of providing a month's worth of dietary allowance for 1,000 families around the world-- all at a time when food is most often scarce and prices too high.

As you know, Child Foundation is NOT a religious organization, nor does it ever get involved with projects like this based on religious or ideological grounds. What we are doing is providing the most basic of necessities (in this case, food) to families with children during a time of year when the need is probably highest and the pressure is simply too much to bear alone.

This year, we estimate the cost of these families' food packages at $50 for small and $90 for larger families.

Faryab's Refugees in Mazar-e-Sharif
Since February 2017, about 200 families, who fled their homes after the Taliban captured them, have moved to Mazar-e-Sharif. Now they are settled in an area just north of the Nassaji neighborhood living in dire conditions.

Among these people, there are 240 kids of schooling age and 80 younger kids, out of whom 25 are hospitalized due to outbreak and three have died so far. There is no bathroom and water supply is too far away. Their limited tents are fully worn out or there is no tent at all, and people have made sunshades using clothes.

The Child Foundation social workers believe that the urgent need is bathroom and clothes, particularly kids clothes. The next priorities are food, fuel and personal hygiene.

Please donate generously here to our refugee fund to help these families.

Children of Mine-workers

On May 3rd, an explosion happened in Zemestan Yort mine in Golestan province when workers tried to jump-start an engine in a tunnel filled with methane gas. This explosion happened in a narrow mile-long tunnel.

Unfortunately 43 were killed in the mine explosion, and it is reported that most of the workers were underpaid and did not have insurance; what lies ahead for their families is unknown. Child Foundation has created a special fund to help ensure that the children of these deceased mine workers can continue receiving an education.

If you'd like to participate in helping these children, please donate generously here:

Hi, I'm Zahra!
I am a 9-year-old talented student in the 3rd grade with an excellent GPA from the city of Borojerd.

I lost my father due to a heart attack two years ago. My father was seasonal miner without having any insurance. Our family income source is the small fund from charity and my mother's seasonal job as a maid.

I love school but my mother has a hard time supporting our family. Your support will give me a chance to continue my education and change my life toward the bright future.

Hi, I'm Abbas!
I am 8 years old and a 1st grader live in Mazar-e-Sharif. I have been limping all my life due to defective leg bones. Although I am considered handicapped, but I love playing soccer. I also have ear problems but he has never been inspected by a doctor since my family cannot afford it.

My father passed away because of stroke and his illness had put us in financial difficulty. My mom is a housewife. Although she has tried to find a job, it is very difficult for women to find a job outside the home. Both my brother and sister are suffering eye issue but never been to a doctor.

We live with severe hardship and supported by relatives and some charity organizations but that is not enough to cover our normal life expenses or my education. I need your help to live my dreams of becoming a teacher.
