Beautiful weather hung around again this week, fairly mild temps and moisture in most spots! Corn Yield is pretty well set, however as Greg Sauder told us yesterday at Yield 360, Kernel depth is being set right now which can have a huge impact ton Yield! Read below about our trip to visit the 360 Yield Center Team this week. Mitch and Adam headed for Illinois to install a Valmar cover crop seeder on a Hagie self propelled machine for in season cover crop application. Interesting poll I found on Twitter this week which shows how farmers make planting decisions. interesting. Our Field Day plans are really coming together! We will be digging a pit to show the Yield 360 Buller chisel Point. A lot to see, we promise this will be the most valuable field day you have been to!

Peach Muffins
Gary and Adam have been harvesting their peaches this week and generously shared them with the staff at Fennig Equipment. I used mine in this yummy muffin recipe!
 
Peach Muffins
 
Ingredients:
 
½ c. butter, softened
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
½ c. sour cream or yogurt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 cup chopped fresh peaches
1 c. chopped pecans, optional
 
Directions:
 
  1. Beat together butter and sugar. Add egg, sour cream and vanilla; mix well.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into butter mixture just until moistened.
  3. Fold in peaches and pecans, if desired.
  4. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups three-fourths full.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done.
  6. Coll for 10 minutes; remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

Thursday 360 Yield center held their dealer appreciation days, and our team had a lot of fun! Not only did we learn a lot about corn but also about how we can bring more efficient products to work for our customers. We got to view live demos of every product they offer, sharpening our knowledge to bring to the customer. A lot of these same demos can be found at our Field Days Aug. 23 & 24
Everyone has heard of 360 Yield center and the splash they have made into the Nitrogen management and placement market with the Y Drop. The whole idea behind their product line is to manage residue and nitrogen to work mother nature into your favor, we cannot control mother nature so let's focus on what we can control. In furrow fertilizer with their Dash system: The rows around on your ears today were determined back when the plant was around 14" tall!! That is the time where the plant goes from living off of the seed, to living off of crown roots. In furrow helps eliviate stress during this critical time frame. 2x2x2 fertilizer with the Bandit system: This is the base pass, we have all see the chart of N uptake by a corn plant, this base will intersect with the roots and carry the plant up to around V10-12. At V10-12 Y drop comes in to apply more N if the crop potential is there. This system allows for maximum N efficiency and minimun Nitrogen loss, meaning more dollars in your pocket!
