Pennsylvania's Twelve Year Program

PennDOT wants to hear from you! You have about one week left to complete PennDOT's TYP survey. It has questions about your priorities, how you would budget transportation funding, and specific places you want to see improvements to the network. We will also be using this input for our future update to the York County Long Range Transportation Plan. Click https://talkpatransportation.metroquest.com/ to make your voice heard.

York County 911 Street Addressing Requirements

This is a reminder that all municipalities have the responsibility of assigning street addresses and street names to all new land developments, and properties in new subdivisions.  This house numbering should be done in coordination with your local post offices (to avoid duplication of road names and repetitive house numbers), and your local emergency service providers.

When your office receives plans recommending the creation of new streets and new street names, new developments, or proposes the reassignment of existing house numbers, we are requesting that you use the attached form (click here) to notify the 911 Center of these proposed changes or additions.  By doing this, we can keep our Computer Aided Dispatch System up-to-date, and provide the best service possible to the citizens of York County when dispatching emergency responders.  Without this information, our 911 database can't be properly maintained, and providing accurate location information to emergency responders can be difficult.  These proposed addresses should be sent via e-mail to kholtzapple@ycdes.org, faxed to the number shown on the update form as provided, or mailed to Kim Holtzapple, Addressing/GIS Supervisor, York County Department of Emergency Services - 911, 120 Davies Drive, York, PA  17402.  Kim can also be contacted at 717-840-2941.

The primary reasons for this reminder are:

a) to assure that emergency providers can quickly and accurately locate any address in York County for emergency situations;

b) to assist the Post Office in delivering mail to intended recipients; and

c) to provide an accurate mailing address to the York County Tax Assessment Office for new developments/properties.

We thank you for your assistance with this matter, and greatly appreciate those municipalities presently undertaking these steps to assure clear identification of property.

We will continue to send out periodic updates to keep you updated and connected with what is happening in and around York County.  Please continue to visit our website for the latest news.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Felicia S. Dell
