How to Master Integrated Marketing
AOCA Partner, PISTN: Marketing Accelerated

You have to be able to navigate several channels if you want to market your business efficiently in the digital world.

Traditional advertising, social media, direct mail, email, texts or video blogs-no one vehicle is enough for today's busy consumer. Besides that, your consumer base is as diverse as it has ever been, perhaps more, and each demographic will have a different way of looking for information. To be successful, you need to implement Integrated Marketing.

Integrated Marketing is a phrase that's been thrown around a lot lately, but what exactly does that mean?

As an AOCA partner, PISTN: Marketing Accelerated offers AOCA members discounted services. Visit their member page to learn more.
Q&A with Affinity HR's
Claudia St. John: Holiday Premium Pay
Q:  With Labor Day right around the corner, we have decided to keep the business open on the holiday.  Do I have to pay a premium for employees who are scheduled to work?

A: There is no obligation under federal or state law to pay premium pay for holidays. Of course, you are obligated to pay overtime for any hours in excess of 40 hours in the workweek but premium pay is not statutorily required.  Therefore, your decision should largely be guided by your existing holiday pay policy, if one exists. If one doesn't exist, realize that how you handle this situation may set precedence for future working holidays, so make your decision with that in mind.

It's Back to School Time
When you were a kid, going to school and getting passing grades was not optional-it was expected. And if you did not score well on assignments and quizzes, it would most certainly show up on your report card. Reflecting on all the classes and assignments, it's evident now that your teachers were training you for something you would probably need later.

HR Question of the Month: Pregnant new hire — terminate employment?
Question: We hired a new employee about a week ago and now she is telling us that she is 4 months pregnant. She did not disclose this during the hiring process. The manager wants to terminate her employment. What are the possible ramifications if we terminate her? It looks as if she was seeking employment for health insurance benefits only.
