Success Story - Daniel

Daniel came to our after school program due to complicated family circumstances. At first he was disruptive, unfocused and noncommunicative. As Daniel started participating at PAL, he began to change. He began completing his homework and became interested in reading. Gradually, Daniel's school performance and behavior improved and he won the "Student of the Week" award. Presently, Daniel loves our 25 book challenge and when you go in the classroom, Daniel is often found reading a book. Daniel knows we care and in turn, he cares.

At PAL, our vision is for every child to develop the skills necessary to succeed in school and to become  "Leaders for Life." If you would like to help turn around the lives of more children like Daniel, please consider making your end of the year tax deductible gift to PAL by clicking here

Please know that your donations will be used to create successful outcomes, such as 96 percent of our PAL program participants being promoted to the next grade level. Thank you in advance for your support!

Special thanks to The Jim Moran Foundation for awarding PAL a $71,519 grant to be used for the after school program. The funding will help PAL provide a safe and structured learning environment, promote students to the next grade level, reduce school absentism, increase student achievement in reading and math, and offer activities designed to reduce childhood obesity.

The mission of The Jim Moran Foundation is to improve the quality of life for the youth and families of Florida through the support of innovative programs and opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of the community.

When we were faced with space limitations at our Westside PAL location in Mallison Park, the Deerwood Rotarians generously committed $100,000 (which led to matching funds) for a classroom expansion project.

Representatives from COJ, Auld-White Constructors, PQH Architects, the Deerwood Rotary, and THE PLAYERS Red Coats recently joined us for a groundbreaking ceremony. Our children and staff are looking forward to their three new classrooms!
