David Douglas Rocket Team Qualifies for National Competition

Congratulations to Team SCOT, the 23-member student team scored in the top amidst 800 teams nationally, earning the David Douglas students an invitation to Washington D.C in May. Club mentors Sandra Mueller (physics teacher), Sebastian Petreus (engineering teacher) and Tanya Kindrachuk (4-H program assistant) have been meeting weekly after school and various Saturdays designing, building and launching rockets to meet this year’s Team America Rocketry Challenge guidelines.

Their next challenge is to raise $5,000 to cover airfare, lodging and ground transportation in just a few weeks. Donations are greatly appreciated to help the students ‘rock-et’ into D.C.

Donations must be in check form. 'Go Fund Me' is no longer accepted. Mail or drop off a check donation to David Douglas High School ( 1001 SE 135th Ave, Portland, OR 97233 ) with a memo of “Rocket Team.” Many thanks!

See video of the rocket launches and hear from the team captions.
OSU Staff Members Serve at Events

OSU Extension educators were invited to share their expertise at two April events. They participated in the Emergency Preparedness Fair at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton. Other emergency readiness organizations also brought their practical knowledge to assist the public in making their own emergency preparedness kits.
