City of Shenandoah announces their new beautification campaign called
Shenandoah Shine” will be a two campaign project to promote the beauty and ongoing upkeep of our vibrant city while having fun competing with your neighbors. The first of two beautification projects for 2017 is starting off with the focus on what makes your home welcoming to not only guests but to the neighborhood around you.
Each of us have ideas about “what could be…” and this is your chance to make those ideas real and earn money and recognition in the process. Your challenge, called “
Welcome to My Home,” is to improve the beauty of your home’s entrance. You can include your outside entrance and the area that surrounds your front door only. This area is the welcome site of our homes and your challenge is to use your creativity to improve your own.
First step, take a picture of the “before” entrance. Create your new improved entrance and then take an “after” photo to show how much you improved the visual appeal. Always wanted to paint your door red? This is the time. Flower boxes needing some love? Again, this is the time. Have you always wanted a “sitting place” on your porch? That might just be the winning idea! Whatever it is, the time to do it is NOW!
After you have created that warm welcome to your home, each participant then submits their two photos for judging. Entries are limited to one before and one after photo only.
Deadline for entry is May 31; no entries will be accepted after that date. Judging will be done by the Civic Club and we are hoping that there is stiff competition for the winning entrance. The winner will be judged the one with the most improved entry, will have their project recognized on the city website June 14 and will receive a $100 gift card from the Home Depot, just in time to continue those home improvements for the Summer Campaign.
Everybody wins when
