Changes Coming to School Street
A section of School Street in front of Bar Antidote/Hired Hand and The Boys & Girls Club will soon be rebuilt with the help of a $40,000 grant written by Vergennes Partnership.

The new streetscape project is slated to begin this spring and will replace uneven and cracked concrete slabs in the pedestrian sidewalk area with:
  • A new ADA-compliant ramp system to serve children at The Boys & Girls Club and customers of Hired Hand Brewing Co.
  • A new sidewalk
  • Granite curbing
  • A concrete seating area outside Hired Hand
The City of Vergennes and its downtown buildings are eligible for valuable grants and tax credits because of the City's status as a Designated Downtown. Vergennes has benefitted greatly from this program since its inception. Want to learn more about the advantages of being a Designated Downtown?  Click here.
