About the Exhibition:
Dallas artist Jen Rose explores the conquest of biomorphic forms in her recent work, Invasive Species, on view at Carneal Simmons Contemporary Art from April 7 through May 5, 2018. The one-person exhibition showcases vibrant works in porcelain that explore color, light, and translucency. Rose, who prefers working in repetitive forms, explains that these pieces represent plants and animals that take over physical environments in the same way that invasive thoughts can take over the mind.
About the Artist:
"As a native of a quirky town in west Texas, I found ways to entertain myself through creativity and small-town capers. My art studies began in earnest in 1994 while attending Angelo State University. In 1996 I moved to Denton to finish my BFA and pursue an MFA in Ceramics. I have remained in the Dallas area since graduating from UNT in 2002 and Ihave an ever-growing list of curious things I have done since grad school including having a paper route, owning a hula-hoop shop and learning to lasso small children. Currently I am an exhibiting artist and Art faculty at Richland College."
