Come to Harmony to learn brave new things!

John Ferrando is Coming to Harmony
to Teach BARGELLO!
|
|
Here's an Example of What You'll Make in John's Class |
John Ferrando has spent years exploring, experimenting, testing and pushing the medium of glass to its limits in order to create work that is different, unique and pleasing for the art glass enthusiast.
He says: "One of my passions is experimenting with glass medium and developing exciting ways to work with all the different materials."
During this workshop, students will learn a unique technique based on the popular e-book, "Decorative Motifs with Fused Glass." While creating undulating "Bargello" designs, participants will also be learning color theory, design composition, the use of materials, and firing schedules.
This class is a three-day event scheduled for May 27, 28 & 29th. John will provide in-depth instruction that will enable you to leave with a complete comprehension of the technique, as well as two FULL-SIZE gallery-quality pieces of art.

Call to All Glass Enthusiasts
Glass Gathering Art Show 2016
There is still time to enter the show!
The Glass Gathering is an organization of glass enthusiasts hosted at Harmony Stained Glass. We meet monthly to share our work and support growth of our art glass community. Each year, we host an exhibition of member work
and we invite everyone to participate. Our members work in a variety of glass media and at many levels of experience. All entries,
amateur and professional (which will be judged within their own level), will be showcased on the day of the exhibit
and evening reception.
Ribbons will be awarded for First and Second Place in each category, and we will also have cash prizes for Best in Show, People's Choice and
Technical Merit. The categories are: Stained Glass,
3D Glass, Glass Mosaic,
Fused Glass, Hot Glass, Lampwork, Glass Jewelry, and Glass Painting. The fee for participation is $30 for Glass Gathering members, and $65 for non-members, which includes a Glass Gathering membership for the remainder of 2016.
We are exceptionally pleased to have Kathryn Hall, Curator at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, participating this year as our judge.
Please consider joining us for this celebration of glass art! For more information and entry forms visit our website at

Mark Hufford is Coming to Harmony!
(only three spots left)
We are partnering with Mark Hufford for a special Fusing Experience in June.
We are delighted that Mark wants to share his painting and fusing skills with all of you, and pleased that he has chosen Harmony as a venue. Here are a few examples of his previous work.
|
|
This is One of the Projects We'll Be Doing in Mark's Class
|
Mark is an artist, freelance graphic designer, art instructor and small business owner. He hails from Perrysburg, Ohio, and has lived in Texas for over 30 years.
He has been drawing since the age of 4 and his passion in art is using graphite while exploring every nuance and technique with pencil and paper. He enjoys teaching beginners in drawing, painting and fusing, with an emphasis on how to observe and see things differently in life.
In addition to running a family business, he teaches private drawing and art instruction to individuals with that desire to be creative and learn. His latest passion is using multiple and varied techniques with "Colors for Earth" glass paints on fused glass. Glass fusing offers Mark a new arena to showcase his considerable artistic skills and enjoy teaching at the same time.
This class will be a three day event, June 24th, 25th and 26th. The cost is $465 per person, and limited to twelve students. A deposit of $150 will be required to hold your space. The balance will be due before class starts.
