The SLHTA Environmental Committee
has the pleasure in announcing the revitalizing of the said Committee. We wish to re-initialize with energy and focus in light of many positive changes that are happening I.E.:
·        Emergent Renewable Energies
·        The UN C Cool project
·        The iWaSP project for recycling plastic (A GIZ Project)
·        Free Oil and Grease collection for re-use
·        And more…. 
Therefore we wish to recommence with our first meeting which is scheduled for  Wednesday 15 th  August, 2018  at  9:00 a.m . at the  SLHTA Conference Room - 2 Alfiona Plaza , Rodney Heights, Gros-Islet. We ask you to confirm by email your participation.
This meeting is for all of us to collectively learn from each other and should spark new understandings and ideas to seek to improve the environmental, knowledge & processes of the committee’s operations, to strive to make the association the leading example of effective environmental stewardship, and to serve as a source of information for others to inspire and promote sustainability within their respective organizations by all who participate.
We therefore ask that you  BRING YOUR PASSION ON  as the committee seeks to further its goal in many ways.

CHTA, Tourism Cares Deploy Hurricane Recovery Resources To Spur Caribbean Tourism

The Caribbean Tourism Recovery Fund, established by the nonprofit organization Tourism Cares and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), has collected more than US$275,000 in charitable donations to build long-term recovery and enhance the ability of hurricane impacted destinations to rebound as quickly as possible.

FDA Adds Lionfish to List of Fish That May Carry Ciguatoxins
The federal government Thursday warned fish processors to take safety precautions with species that carry a risk of ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP). In a draft guidance for industry published in the Federal Register, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration listed the types of fish that have been found to harbor ciguatoxins, including two species of lionfish that had not previously been named as a potential CFP threat... Tourism can bring the Caribbean together

Daryl Aaron Appointed GM of Newly Acquired St. Lucia Hotel

Experienced Caribbean hotelier Daryl Aaron has been appointed general manager of the newly opened Bay Gardens Marina Haven hotel in St. Lucia.

Major Improving to the Soufriere Sulfur Springs Facilities

The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) will undertake a project at the Sulphur Springs Park, in an effort to enhance the services offered.
The project will include the construction of three (3) additional pools, a deck, additional storage and changing rooms.
