Not counting the holidays that come at the end of the year, is there one we anticipate more than the Memorial Day weekend?
In just a few days, it rolls around again. We look forward to it as a measure for the months that come, when, no matter what our age, we can't wait for a chunk of time to be carefree, under a blue sky and summer sun.
The White Mountains are open for the season! The bears have been awake for a while at Clark's Trading Post; the Jolly Old Elf is back at Santa's Village, where the sheriff is ready to round up bad guys at Six Gun City and at Story Land, Cinderella is ready to greet pretty princesses and handsome princes.
Hitch a ride to the top of your favorite mountain by way of the Cannon Mountain Tram, or the scenic ride at Attitash Mountain or the gondola at Wildcat Mountain. Drive (or be driven) to the summit on the Mt. Washington Auto Road or hop aboard the Mount Washington Cog Railway.
Sit back in the comfortable coaches of the Conway Scenic Railroad or the Hobo Railroad and watch the scenery go by.
Or explore the subterranean world of Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves or the Polar Caves Park.
We hope you'll visit one of our attractions and take time to visit one of our towns observing Memorial Day with a parade and remembrance. We hope you'll set aside time to remember those who gave unselfishly so that we can cherish the joys of this carefree season.
