The 2018  Florida Legislative Session is around the corner.  It's time to get ready to advocate for arts, arts education, and cultural funding and policies for FY 2018-2019.

Florida Division of Cultural Affairs' (DCA) grant-review-panels are meeting now  to review the 2018-2019 DCA grants.  The Florida Council on Arts and Culture will meet in Orlando on October 4 and 5.  Once the Council meets and reviews and approves the panels' 2018-2019 grant recommendations, its final grant recommendations will go to   Secretary of State Ken Detzner for his review and approval.  The ranked 2018-2019 recommended DCA grant lists, hopefully, will be available by mid-October.

  Have you mailed your thank you letters to your Florida Senator and Representative AND to those key Florida House and Senate legislators AND others who helped secure state 2017-2018 appropriations for these DCA grants?  

Please write these thank you letters on personal and/or organizational stationery and mail them to their district offices this month.

2.i.  There are changes in legislative membership in 2018 for both the Florida House and Senate TED appropriations' subcommittees.   As you know, the two appropriations subcommittees that deal with appropriation discussions and recommendations for the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs' grants programs are the

4.a.  National Endowment for Arts:  On July 12, 2017, the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior proposed funding of $145 million for the  National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities in FY2018. Read more here.
