ERA Committee:  Time Is Up, We Need the ERA

The ERA has been introduced in Congress every year since 1923  (95 times) and needs ratification by two more states.  The Illinois Senate voted to ratify the ERA on April 11, 2018; it is now heading to the Illinois House .    ERA  Committee member Elizabeth Robinson tells us why we need the ERA.      Click Here

Legislative Advocacy

SBWPC speaks out in support of   The Gun Violence Restraining Order Act (HR 2598) sponsored by Congressman Salud Carbajal and  the Gun Violence Prevention Order Act (S 1212) sponsored by Senator Feinstein:

SBWPC submitted a letter to the Santa Barbara Fire and Police Commission supporting the funding of a full-time Information and Education Officer to ensure that our Spanish Language community is fully informed throughout emergencies such as the deadly fires and deadly debris flows we recently experienced.   For this letter and more, click here

Legislator Interviews

The Legislative  & Advocacy Committee interviewed Congressman Salud Carbajal and Assemblymember Monique Limon about their first term in office.

Participate in the SBWPC Pipeline Survey

SBWPC wants to identify and support a racially diverse group of feminist women and gender nonbinary people who might be good candidates for elected or appointed positions in government. If you are considering running for office or applying for an appointed board or commission OR if you know someone who you would like to see in such positions (even if you don't know if they want to do it), please fill out this survey.
