November 2014
Hello!

The numbers are in! Our 2014 Annual Autumn Benefit held on Thursday, October 23rd at the Metropolitan Club in New York was an outstanding success! In one evening, we raised more than $189,000 to support our programs!

It was a privilege to recognize this year's honoree, singer-songwriter David Osmond. David's speech was filled with inspirational words, and his live musical performances had guests out of their chairs clapping and singing along. The evening was a magnificent celebration.

We extend gratitude and appreciation to our MS community for your overwhelming support. Thank you to all our amazing sponsors, volunteers and guests for making our 30th Anniversary celebration in New York unforgettable. Special thanks goes to our presenting sponsors Rolex Watch, USA and Novartis Pharmaceuticals.

We look forward to seeing you all next year at our 2015 Annual Autumn Benefit. Stay tuned for our 2014 Autumn Benefit video - coming soon!

"The hard work that goes on here is all for such a great cause. I just love volunteering at a place that is making a difference in people's lives!" - Mary, Can Do MS Volunteer

The greatest gift of all time is time.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we would like to give a HUGE thanks to our volunteers. If it was not for their hard work, we wouldn't be able to do what we do! We decided to spotlight two of our in-office volunteers this month. Let us introduce you to who we like to call 'cinnamon roll chef', Dick Woodrow, and 'Ms. can do promoter' herself, Mary Grisedeck.

Dick and Mary worked a combined 332 hours at Can Do MS this past year- almost 40 days- for free! Read more.

Ask the Can Do Team
An online Q & A for people living with MS and their support partners that connects them to our interdisciplinary team of MS experts.

Question: I need some resolution and recommendations for maintaining my lifestyle during the cold months while living and working in Minnesota. During the colder months, my mobility diminishes as my quality of life diminishes in the winter. What can I do to minimize these un-welcomed symptoms of pain, namely in my hands and legs/feet?

Question: My question is in regards to checking the effectiveness of a new substance after 6 months of taking it. Instead of an MRI, might an OCT (optical coherence tomography) be sufficient to confirm any changes or benefits that the medication may have on the patient?

We encourage you to visit MSBlueprint.com to set goals, create personalized activity plans called MS Blueprints, and take small steps to attain a more positive life. Read full article.
