Rocking out for charity: Celebrating Jimi Hendrix's birthday
Neville Hormuz, owner of Loud and Clear Music in Cotati, hosted a celebration in honor of the late great "Jimi" Hendrix's (Johnny Allen Hendrix) 73rd Birthday. Neville's guest of honor for the event was good friend, founder and former owner of Zone Music, the previous music store at the same location, Frank Hayhurst. Neville and Frank were joined by 10 other electric guitarists in very loudly playing "Purple Haze;" during which Frank paid homage to Jimi by setting his guitar - painted by Sara Davis - on fire, like at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival; although he left out the destruction of the instrument since it was a raffle prize.
