Board of Directors Update
The days are getting shorter as we begin December.  But remember that as of December 22 the days will again become longer.  Our animals are all tucked up safely for the winter season.  Some of them, however, are bursting with energy even as the days are cold and snowy.  It takes a lot of food and specialized diets to keep our cousins of those in the wild well-fed this season.
Winter animal adoptions really make a big difference during these lean months. They certainly make great gifts as well. Who is that someone on your list that that would love this gift?

As we draw to the end of the 2015 year we want to thank so many of our friends who have helped make this year such a success.  First of all, the board salutes our amazing staff and the many volunteers who have made our Zoo operate to the benefit of our animals and many visitors.  Next our friends at the City and Parks and Recreation, especially Erin, Mark and the crew; a special shout-out to Ralph Greene of the City, the JCC Zoo Tech program, Northern Credit Union, Carthage Savings & Loan, Watertown Savings Bank, Community Bank, Sundance Leisure, Kraft Cleaning, Knowlton Brothers, Slack Chemical, the Couch Group, UBS, Bowers & Co and Car-Freshner.  Davidson's Auto is always there for us as are the Jefferson County Legislators.  To our many loyal members and their families, our thanks. To all our generous donors, you are appreciated. It has been a remarkable year.

So what's ahead for the New Year? We will let you in on one important change- the Fire Tower will be re-opening!  And the Park and the Zoo will host an all-day Fourth of July Celebration on July 1, 2016.

Of course there is a lot more to come.  The board is thinking strategically about how we do business- how our community can most benefit from the Zoo and nature experience.  Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.  We don't want simply satisfied customers, we want raving fans and we are charting a path for that to be the goal each and every day.

Let this be a season of joy and celebration.  Your support has been so important and appreciated.  Bring on winter; we are ready.

Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday  is the annual celebration of giving back after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Take some time to consider what organizations mean the most to you. If you decide on us, did you know you can set up monthly donations to us or a one time gift through our website? Monthly donations are a great way to spread the giving out over the year to come!.

The winter months here at the zoo can be our most challenging and is definitely our slowest for community interaction. Despite the cold and snow, all the animals in our care require extra care and plenty of food.
