New contract with State of California to address Human Trafficking & Domestic Violence
In December 2017, HYC was awarded funding from the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services toward our education and mentoring services for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. This funding will provide a total of 92 clients with one-on-one case management, mentoring/positive role modeling, referral to mental health counseling and medical care, assistance in locating stable housing, and supportive services including employment readiness to help youth and young adults safely transition out of domestic violence and human trafficking. These services will set clients on a trajectory of healing and dignity that will benefit themselves, their children and their community.

In addition to providing clients with the resources listed above, HYC would like to deepen the support we provide to these clients. In order for us to do this, we need your help! Additional f unding for these programs would be applied towards the cost for a follow-up period of 12 months for clients after receiving initial services at our agency. The funding would also provide for necessities for clients to successfully transition to stable and independent lives including basic household goods (such as clean and new bedding, towels, and kitchen items), and professional work attire. Donations made to HYC will make this possible. If you are interested in donating, please click on the "Donate to HYC" button above or contact Angela Bolton, Director of Development, at (562) 273-0737.
HYC's Juneteenth
Mental Health Awareness Community Fair

On Friday, June 15, 2018, a total of 105 community members from Central Long Beach gained knowledge and awareness around mental health and well-being at the Juneteenth Community Fair Event. Ten community organizations provided information booths as well as workshops for people to take part in. Participants engaged in workshops that promoted healthy lifestyle habits, healthy social media messages and they also received valuable information through speakers and handouts. Participants shared that they were more aware of and have a better understanding of mental health and well-being from the information they received. Thank you to the Long Beach Advocates for Change for hosting this event and making an impact in the community!
New HYC East L.A. Office
to Expand Homeless Programs

The goal of our Homeless Services Program is to serve homeless individuals and families and those at risk for homelessness with coordinated housing and service interventions in order to permanently achieve housing stability.
HYC provides comprehensive homeless outreach and housing assistance services for adult men, women and families with children who are living on the streets in the City of Vernon and the surrounding communities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Huntington Park, South Gate, and Maywood. Since 2012, HYC has been providing these services and in the last year, we opened our new East L.A. office.

In serving homeless clients, HYC staff often have families and individuals in need of hygiene and basic needs items such as: toiletries (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc.), jackets, socks, and blankets. If you would like to donate items or for more information, please contact our
East L.A. office at (213) 226-0969. Donations and contributions make a huge difference for those struggling and need some extra support!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
