Meet some of the talent bringing our next show to the stage |
Rebecca Ballarin, Director Steering the artistic vision of the final show in our 2016/2017 season is emergent talent, Rebecca Ballarin. Rebecca is a freelance director and producer, and recent graduate of the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Toronto. In addition to her training under Leah Cherniak at U of T, she has completed directing workshops with Adam Seelig, Matthew Jocelyn, and Kim Collier.
Jenna McCutchen, Set Designer Jenna's work was last seen on our stage in Twelfth Night. She has assisted at CanStage, NAC and three seasons at the Stratford Festival, and is a graduate of NTS and York University. She is the recipient of two Guthrie awards and two Dora nominations.
Daina Valiulis, Costume Designer This is Daina's first show with Hart House Theatre. She is an artist across different media including illustration, digital illustration and design (with a few published children's books). Daina is a painter (on canvas and clothing) and is interested in animation.
Melissa Joakim, Lighting Designer Melissa is a lighting and projection designer, technician and stage manager who has worked extensively in Toronto. Her experience includes work with companies such as Soulpepper, Ahuri Theatre, Shakespeare Bash'd and Theatre by the Bay.
Miquelon Rodriguez, Sound Designer and Composer Miquelon Rodriguez is an actor, sound designer, musician/composer and writer from Toronto. He attended York University for a specialization in devised theatre and has been a musician/composer for over 20 years. He is a co-curator of Soulpepper's Tiger Bamboo Festival and can also be found on the turntables as DJ Tronix.

Celebrating student theatre |
Last week, Hart House Theatre and the Drama Coalition presented the creative work of students through the 25th annual U of T Drama Festival. Adjudicated by award-winning playwright, David Yee, the festival culminated in an awards ceremony, celebrating the efforts and accomplishments of performers, directors, playwrights and production teams.

A Stage Management workshop and a Competition |
Stage Management Workshop
When: Tuesday, March 7, 7-9 pm
Where: Hart House Theatre, Stage Door
For anyone who's ever been interested in what goes on behind the curtain, join us to learn valuable skills that you can put to use in your next campus production. Highly recommended for students planning to stage manage in future, or students looking to hone their skills.
Registration is open for U of T students only. Register here >> Playwriting Competition U of T Spotlight is dedicated to supporting student playwrights. An adjudication panel will select one winner and two runners-up after the conclusion of the contest. Winning scripts are awarded cash prizes and student playwrights of all experience levels are encouraged to submit their original, unproduced works.
