Institute Award & Immigrant Service Map
Thanking our community supporters & building connectivity
Sisters of the Order of the Most Precious Blood of O'Fallon Missouri pose for a photo with a copy of the International Award.
The International Institute's Annual Report to the Community was held on May 19. Guests included volunteers, collaborators, ethnic community representatives, and other supporters.
This year's International Institute Award recipient is the Order of the Most Precious Blood of O'Fallon Missouri. The Order owned 3401 Arsenal St. until 2014 when they sold the campus to the Institute. The award was given to recognize the role that the sisters played in supporting the acquisition.
In 2013, the Order made the painful decision to close St. Elizabeth Academy, which they had operated since 1882. Their enrollment had suffered, as city dwellers continued to move to the county. Since it was the ideal location for the International Institute, we purchased the campus with help from the Order.
Institute Hosts First Baby Shower
Welcoming our newest Americans
Refugee guest at the International Institute's recent Baby Shower.
Recently, we hosted our first baby shower at the International Institute to pass on donated items from generous St. Louisans. Due to the recent federal reduction in refugee admissions, we had more baby and toddler items than we needed. So, we arranged to pass them on in a party format.
Staff and volunteers welcomed 10 refugee moms to the shower. Accompanying children ranged from newborn babies to three years old. The newcomer families have been St. Louis residents for less than six months.
"The event provided an opportunity for the moms to meet each other and to learn a bit about resources for small children," said Debra Smith, IISTL Community Engagement Coordinator.

Fundraisers for Refugee Resettlement
Stepping up to make a difference!

Heather Huewe, displaying her Race4Refugees commemorative t-shirt, presents a check for race proceeds of $11,701 to Anna Crosslin, IISTL CEO.
In related news, we also thank 4 Hands Brewery, which recently donated $6,267 to the Institute from the first quarter sales of City Wide.
A recent music concert at the Heavy Anchor and donation from Safety National has also resulted in generous new support.
Thanks a million!
