| Greetings! | Welcome to the January edition of your KNPB eNewsletter! We are kicking off a new year with exciting community events, extraordinary programming and our continued dedication to the standards of quality that you have come to expect and appreciate about your public television station, KNPB. It is a great time to remind you that it is with your financial support that KNPB is able to present programs and activities everyday that inspire, entertain and inform our community.

 This month, KNPB launched our new programming schedule. Now, you can enjoy your favorite educational programming including Clifford, The Cat in the Hat, Wild Kratts, Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train and more, in weekday broadcasts from 6:00am until 12:30pm. In addition, now your prime time favorites like, Nova, Nature, Antiques Roadshow and American Experience can be seen weekday afternoons at 5:00pm. Charlie Rose has shifted to 4:00pm right after the PBS Newshour. And, for those in need of a chuckle, on Friday afternoons from 2:00 until 3:00pm you can catch your favorite Britcoms. Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey
|
|
January's programming began with the much anticipated premiere of Masterpiece Classic's "Downton Abbey," Season 2. The continuation of the multiple Emmy winning series engulfs us in the story of the aristocrats and servants of Downton Abbey as they face the tumultuous days of World War I. Season 2 continues through February 19 on KNPB.
Did you miss the premiere? You can still catch up on what is quickly becoming a PBS blockbuster! The first episode will be featured in an encore broadcast this Sunday, January 15 at 7pm, followed by the second episode at 9pm. In addition, you can stream the program online on the KNPB video player at watch.knpb.org. And, for a limited time, you can also catch up on "Downton Abbey," Season 1 episodes at watch.knpb.org.

Community Broadcast: Crystal Darkness

KNPB is joining forces with other local television and radio stations in broadcasting "Crystal Darkness," a 30-minute documentary dealing with the widespread problem of meth addiction, at 8pm on Wednesday, January 18. This KNPB series presents conversations with key voices addressing the critical issues that affect you, Nevada and the nation as a whole. Join us at our new broadcast times, Friday evenings at 8:30pm and Sunday mornings at 11am. KNPB's Annual Young Writers Contest

Join us Friday, January 28, or Saturday, January 29, at the Learning Express locations in Reno for the kick-off of KNPB's 2012 PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. The afternoon will feature a special appearance from Curious George and KNPB will get young writers ready to create their stories and illustrations. Come On Up with the KNPB Kids Club!

Join the KNPB Kids Club and Bob the Builder at RockSport Indoor Climbing Center on Saturday, February 11, from 10am to 1pm. This special KNPB Kids Club event will feature: rock climbing, tight rope walking, tumbling, kids yoga with Flowing Lotus Yoga and a special meet & greet with Bob the Builder. Community Screening: Jews in Nevada

Watch for your invitation to join KNPB for a special screening of the upcoming KNPB production Jews in Nevada on Thursday, February 9, at the Nevada Museum of Art in downtown Reno. The event will be open to the public, however reservations are required as seating is limited. The film will be featured in its broadcast premiere on KNPB in February. The KNPB online team, in conjunction with Noble Studios, launched a newly designed website featuring an updated user interface designed to better highlight your favorite KNPB content. The site has an increased focus on watching the high quality KNPB and PBS programs that you can enjoy anytime online and news posts and social media updated in real-time.
