Announcing Healthy LEAP
Healthy LEAP (Lifestyle Education and Practice) is a series of health, nutrition, fitness, safety and injury prevention lessons and practical applications created specifically for youth and adults with and without intellectual disabilities. These lessons are delivered by school facilitators in a classroom, and include specific tasks and activities to jumpstart the practice of a healthy lifestyle. This new program is made possible through the support of the Colorado Health FoundationIf you are an educator or know an educator who would like to bring this innovative and unified health program your preschool, elementary school, middle school or high school, please contact Emilie Ricker at [email protected].
Athletes and Coaches Headed to World Games
We are excited to announce that three Special Olympics Colorado athletes will represent Colorado and the United States at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, March 14-25! These remarkable athletes, with the Special Olympics USA Team, trained in Killington Vermont in December. Congratulations to Joy McCloud (Snowshoeing), Vince Egan (Alpine Skiing) and Sue White (Alpine Skiing)! Also representing Colorado are Tommy Moore (Alpine Skiing Coach), Aspen Defeld (Snowshoeing Coach) and Jenny Chase (Alpine Skiing Sport Manager).
