Greensgrow Farms: A Taste of Kensington Benefits Greensgrow Community Kitchen
Hyperion Bank was the proud "Sprouter" sponsor of A Taste of Kensington , a fundraising event held on June 13th to benefit the Greensgrow Community Kitchen, an incubator space for local food entrepreneurs that since 2011 has helped over 75 local food visionaries turn their dreams into reality.

As the Sprouter sponsor, we were honored to support a Kensington food business in its incubation phase. Please meet our "Sprouter" recipient: Sherimane Johnson , owner of NaturallySweet Desserts !

While baking the delicious vegan desserts such as those enjoyed by guests at A Taste of Kensington , Sherimane is also preparing to open her vegan bakery and cafe in Kensington in November 2018. As one of nine winners selected in Shift Capital's Kensington Storefront Challenge, Sherimane received financial assistance and valuable business guidance.

Sherimane says, "As a health conscious artisan bakery, NaturallySweet Desserts will offer a unique and accessible alternative to chain 'fast food' establishments and provide a much needed all-natural bakery-cafe offering 100% natural, 100% delicious baked goods and comfort food."

Sherimane was selected in part for her strong commitment to being a good community partner and her desire to help people in and around Kensington live healthy lives.

Until her Grand Opening, you can order Sherimane's sweet and healthy creations and learn more about her journey at NaturallySweetDesserts.com .

The Greensgrow Community Kitchen is one of the many community programs and services offered by Greensgrow Farms, a non-profit farm based in Kensington that has been a nationally-recognized leader and pioneer in urban agriculture for over 20 years. Founded in 1997 as a hydroponic lettuce farm on the site of a former steel galvanizing plant, today Greensgrow runs an intensive urban farm, Farm Share programs, farmstands, two garden centers, a community kitchen, and Mobile Markets throughout the city. Greensgrow is dedicated to reconnecting city dwellers with rural and urban food producers and promoting the greening of Philadelphia’s homes and gardens. Their locations embody the phrase “from abandoned to abundant” and serve as inspiration and backdrop for educational programs, workshop series and popular events.
