Families Belong Together

SBWPC opposes the Trump Administration's unconscionable and inhumane immigration policies including separating children from their parents, removing sexual and domestic violence as grounds for asylum and denying relief to our DACA youth.

We have already joined several vigils to protest these policies.  On June 30, 2018, we we will join other local organizations for a Families Belong Together Rally as part of a national day of protect (details below).

The Ad Hoc ERA Committee Thanks You!

A hardy THANK YOU to all who helped make calls to Illinois voters to call their representatives urging them to vote for the ratification of the ERA Amendment in their state.  On May 30, 2018, Illinois became the 37th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.  That means we only need one more state to take the amendment back to Congress for final passage. We all helped make this happen.  Thank you for stepping up!   Click here for more detail.

Advocacy Works!

SBWPC joined The Restorative Community Network, CAUSE, La Casa de la Raza, El Centro, LISTOS, 805UndocuFund, Just Communities, CLUE, DURJ in urging the Santa Barbara City Council to fund a full time Spanish Language Information and Education Officer position at the Fire Department.   The Santa Barbara City Council voted 4-2 to fund the position. Thank you LIzzie Rodriguez for your leadership on this important issue.    A note from Lizzie Rodriguez, Restorative Community Network.

SBWPC wants to identify and support a racially diverse group of feminist women and gender nonbinary people who might be good candidates for elected or appointed positions in government. If you are considering running for office or applying for an appointed board or commission OR if you know someone who you would like to see in such positions (even if you don't know if they want to do it), please fill out  this survey.
