*Member Alerts*

Member Alerts are sent out to our Members as needed.

These alerts are for Members only and are more urgent or important in nature then other correspondence.  We hope you find these of value.

Since our June newsletter, we sent three alerts regarding a variety of topics including the Lease and Interchange rule extension, a proposed New York City traffic rule introduces that would significantly increase fines related to the bus industry, live Q&A sessions being being held by FMCSA on Electronic Log Device implementation deadline approaching, the withdrawal of the proposed rule for annual inspection program for states, the Intercity Bus Security Grant funding and Jersey bus regulations activity.  The last item is being highlighted as our first article below.
Update on  South Jersey
Bus Regulations

As a follow up to our recent email blasts regarding the South Jersey Transportation Authority ("SJTA"), we wish to provide you with the most current information that we have available.

SJTA has published in the NJ Register a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking by which they formally acknowledge that their Rules of Operation expired on November 16, 2016 (as we had suggested) and they are proposing to adopt new Rules of Operation which amend and repeal the previous Rules pertaining to 1) regulation of buses and routes of travel; 2) regulation of bus parking facilities; 3) bus operator permits and medallions; and 4) violations and penalties.

There will be a series of Public Hearings and Request for Written Comments before the new Rules of Operation are adopted. However, it should be made absolutely clear that at the present time there are no Rules of Operation in effect.

The "new" Rules of Operation will leave it up to the individual bus operators going to Atlantic City to use the routes within the City and County that you choose, subject to local regulation; allow you to park in any legal lot or location, subject to local regulation; eliminate the requirement for Permits and Medallions; and eliminate the issuance of summonses by SJTA.

These actions are the direct result of the efforts of GNJMA to represent your interests and to provide value for your membership in the Association.

GNJMA's Connection to Newly Crowned Miss New Jersey

Brian Schoeffel, GNJMA's account executive at Vista Convention Services, contacted us recently with some great news - his daughter, Kaitlyn, has been crowned Miss New Jersey!  Vista has been our booth vendor for the Marketplace for several years.

Kaitlyn, 23, worked tirelessly to achieve this accomplishment.  After finishing as first, second, and fourth runner-up in previous years, Kaitlyn was crowned last month at Ocean City Music Pier.  "I think it goes to show that if you keep trying and strive for your dream, then you can do it," said Schoeffel, in an interview with The Press of Atlantic City.
The last time

Miss New Jersey officially won the Miss America Pageant was in 1937.
