Community Outreach, Refugee Stories, and Native American Ministries in Indiana
The Metro Monday Connection
April 3, 2017
Greetings!
We at Metro Ministries invite you to connect with ministries, with resources, and with each other! Please share this with your congregations, your communities, and your friends.
Mission Outreach at Brownsburg Calvary
Each week during Lent, Brownsburg Calvary UMC highlighted various mission outreach programs.
This past weekend they highlighted Children and Youth displays from Metro Ministries, Lebanon Children's Home, East Tenth UM Children & Youth, and their local school program Fast Track.
Mission Chair Eric Gallo met with Metro Ministries Executive Director Lisa Morris to connect resources to ministries, and to share the many ways the congregation can use their resources by volunteering, giving, praying, and sharing their passions in ministry.
You may have heard about the large event Meridian Street UMC hosted March 26, 2017, "Flight from Syria: Refugee Stories".
"Out of the church's desire to welcome the neighbor - Meridian Street hosted [the event], welcoming over 250 people of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths to share a meal together ... and take action steps to welcome new neighbors in the community of Indianapolis."
Meridian Street UMC Member Candace Landry shared her reflections on the event, in regards to our neighbors, our political climate, and how we can help those in need.
On Sunday, April 30, United Methodists focus on the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans, both in the church and in communities.
