Ceres Community Project, the grassroots movement you've been a part of nurturing, is about to celebrate 10 years of creating health for people, our community and our planet through love, healing food and empowering the next generation.
We've certainly grown since our humble beginnings in a church kitchen, cooking with six teens for a handful of families. There are now more than 400 youth preparing 100,000 nourishing organic meals each year, supported by hundreds of adult volunteers and our dedicated staff. And around the country, twelve communities have started projects based on our model.
Together, we're creating a legacy of love and a powerful investment in our collective future.
Please join us on April 2nd to celebrate the legacy you've helped create at Ceres' 10th Anniversary celebration (more information below). Especially if we haven't seen you in a while, I hope you'll come and reconnect with us. We'll share stories and good food and savor each other's company.
In Gratitude,
Cathryn Couch
Founder & Executive Director

Supplements: Friend or Foe?
|
by Thais Harris, NC
Nutrition Education Manager, Ceres Community Project
People often ask me about whether supplements are really necessary or helpful at all. My standard answer is: it depends!
We each have a special set of needs, according to our bio-individuality, which means no one answer is good for everyone.

New Succulents at the Ceres Café
Cafe regulars Kjohl and Joseph volunteered to buy and pot succulents for our tables. Kjohl's favorite cafe item is the Tuscan Kale Salad with Tempeh and Joseph loved the special Chili with Ground Turkey, Carnival Squash and Kale. Thank you Kjohl and Joseph!
Your donated plants are lovely. They make the
Café an even more wonderful place to be.

Ceres Teen Alumi 'Artfully' Gives Back
Jerry is a talented illustrator and former Ceres Teen Chef from our Sebastopol kitchen.
He creates beautiful watercolor prints, and his current series is thematically linked to four non-profits that he feels strongly about. Half of the sales generated from each print will be donated to the corresponding nonprofit.
Proceeds from his "Sonoma County" print benefit Ceres. The print is unavailable, but we'll let you know if it becomes available again.

"I went to Analy High and volunteered at Ceres when I was a teen a number of years ago; to this day, I use the skills that I learned in the kitchen and in the garden. I truly believe working at Ceres was one of the most meaningful and important experiences I have had. Even though I don't live in Sonoma County anymore, I wanted to give support in any way that I can, which is why I started this campaign! Best, Jerry Wilson" Jerry, thank you for your kind words and for giving back in such a beautiful and unique way.
