It's been almost 10 years since Ceres Community Project started as a small, volunteer-run project in a church kitchen in Sebastopol. We've now delivered over 500,000 nourishing meals in Sonoma and Marin counties and helped close to 2,000 young people discover their power to make a difference in the world. The impact is magnified by the 11 groups from around the country whom we've trained to replicate our model.
Though we've grown, we remain a grassroots, community-driven group. I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for stepping up and joining in this journey.
Your love, your actions and your financial support in 2016 alone nourished nearly 700 clients and families in need, and empowered more than 450 young people - the leaders of tomorrow.
Your heart-felt actions also have an impact beyond the individuals whose lives we touch. Collectively we are building a healthier and more caring world - the kind of world we want to live in and that we'll be honored to leave to our children.
Today this grass-roots community building work is more critical than ever before.
Follow us this year as we look back on our first ten years, and look forward to what's next! We'll share stories from both current and past clients, Teen Chefs & Gardeners, donors, staff, and adult volunteers. And we'll be sending you an invitation soon to Ceres' 10th birthday celebration.
I am honored to do this work with you!
In Gratitude,
Cathryn Couch
Founder & Executive Director

Gratitude from the Parents of Ceres' Teens
|
|
"Dear Ceres,
Your organization has been a large part of the maturity and growth of both Sophie and Lily, a part of a their formative years that makes me feel good/confident in sending them off to college. Your expectations of responsibility, and respect for relationships with others and with themselves has been priceless. Thanks so much for all you have done/been for my daughters.
Love, Julie and Dan (Parents of two Ceres' teens)"

Each fall, Ceres Teen Chefs and Gardeners plan, cook and enjoy a dinner composed entirely of foods grown within a 100 mile radius of our Sebastopol kitchen. The experience is part of our Teen Education curriculum, and also provides a way for youth from different kitchens and different work days to get to know each other.
This is a joyful event where Ceres teens can enjoy their efforts in a fun and engaging way. Check out the menu and wonderful photos taken at last month's event. Thanks to Teen Chef Lane for capturing the evening in pictures!
