What the Library means to me
Kathy Coughlin, DVM, Chair, Library Board of Trustees
"I feel like I have come full circle with the Goffstown Public Library. I began going to the Goffstown Public Library when I was in grade school and I spent hours doing homework in the North Room during high school. As a kid I never had given much thought to the library because it was always there for me, now as a Trustee I realize how much effort goes into this institution. The Goffstown Public Library helped me learn how to use a library which was a valuable skill in college as well as graduate school. Most importantly GPL taught me that a library is more than books, the staff that helps to guide you is invaluable.
After returning to Goffstown and while between jobs the library was there again and I began using the downloadable services. I am dyslexic and still have a difficulty reading, a benefit of using my device to read is that I am able to change the size of the font. I also attended some events at the library. It was great to see how it had changed over the years. I was able to borrow an E-book at any time of day. The more I used the services of the library I wanted to go further, an opening on the Library Board of Trustees opened the door to the inner workings of the Goffstown Public Library.
I am proud to serve on the board, I love our library but I also want to see it grow and change as our world changes. I want to see robust programming, continued access to museum passes via the Friends Group, a great selection of books and a wonderful staff to help along the way."
