TSOL Holiday Bazaar

You can start your holiday shopping Saturday, November 19 at the Skyline Country Club when the Tucson Symphony Orchestra League hosts a Holiday Bazaar. There will be over 25 vendors with lots of great items for everyone on your gift list. A lavish lunch will be served at food stations throughout the bazaar. A Southwest Nutcracker

That same weekend you will also be able to enjoy the TSO performing the music at the Tucson Regional Ballet's production of A Southwest Nutcracker. Featuring guest dancers formerly with the Joffrey Ballet, this original, full length classical ballet translates the traditional Nutcracker to Tucson in the 1880s complete with the battle of the coyotes and the U.S. Cavalry. Travel with young Maria (Clara) and the Nutcracker General over the glistening, falling snow of Mt. Lemmon to a Desert Dream of Chili Peppers, Mama Pinata and the waltzing Desert Poppies. Save the Date
November 11: Check out the premiere of Mozart's Sister at noon at the Loft Film Fest at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway. Variety calls the film about Wolfgang's big sister "a stunner...a treat for classical music lovers and cinephiles alike."
November 13: the last day to bring in your old, unworn, broken or unwanted pieces of gold and platinum jewelry to one of the two Marshall's Jewelers stores for ON Media's Golden Encore fundraising campaign for the TSO. The pieces will be melted down and sold and the proceeds given to the TSO. All jewelry donors will receive a receipt to be used for tax purposes. For more information bring your items into one of the two Marshall's Jewelers stores or, contact Rita Marshall at 520-325-9955.
December 2 and 4: December Classic Series program, Mozart and Prokofiev. Mozart's glowing Symphony No. 39, the first of his final musical triptych, cheers the listener with its novel, melodious use of the wind section while Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, one of his most performed works, follows with the rousing, exciting optimism of humanity over tyranny. December 3 The Piano Trio performs "The Duck is Back" at the Just for Kids program at 10:00a.m. and 11:15a.m.at the Tucson Symphony Center. After a ten-year absence "The Ugly Duckling" returns. "The Ugly Duckling" is Michael Fan's retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale. As a special treat, the TSO Piano Trio will perform the enchanting "Pas de duck" and the exciting "Ducklorico." |
