A Message from our horse, Bria:

Have you ever wondered about a day in the life of one of our horses? Bria, our 17-year old Norwegian Fjord, can share her day with you......

"My day starts in the fields surrounding the Nickers 'N Neighs' barn. I'm happy here, and even happier to see the staff come to get me. That means I'm headed to my newly cleaned stall where fresh water, hay and grain await me.

Then it's time to go to work. I warm up, exercising my muscles so I'm ready to partner with my students for their therapeutic riding lessons. It is important for me to stay in shape, so that I can give the students the movement that they need.

I often work with two students in a day. Today, I worked with a girl who was only riding for the second time. She is still learning how to balance so I knew I'd need to give her a steady, slow ride so she could work on her balance. We worked together for 20 minutes today. In time she'll be ready for a longer lesson and I'll be there for her!

Then some grooming - those brushes feel good - with more hay before a nap. Time for my second student. We're working on trotting and he's coming along great!

My evening is spent enjoying hay and grain with outdoor time in the pastures. Then a good night's sleep - I have students relying on me again tomorrow and I need to be in shape to support them!"

Registration is now open for the 2016 Sporting Clays Tournament. We can't wait to see you!

Nickers 'N Neighs
Horse Show

Nickers 'N Neighs hosts a horse show for its students every year. This year it is scheduled for September 24, 2016. For this show, students choose songs, to which they ride their horses. While the students are rocking in the saddle, they also are also applying the equitation skills that they have developed.

Our horse show is one of the best opportunities to see our students in action. Consider placing an ad in our program or becoming a sponsor for our biggest event of the season! You are also welcome to join us.

Volunteer Spotlight

Pennsylvania's law change requiring clearances for volunteers who work near children takes affect this month. Volunteers who are missing a clearance or any other forms required for our accreditation have been marked "inactive" on our roster. We still need your help - don't let this stop you from volunteering! In most cases, we just need your sign ature on a form or a free clearance. Please inquire in the office, and we'd be happy to help you obtain what is needed. Thanks for all of your continued support!
