Who is your Newsletter Officer?

The truth is, I am simply another compulsive overeater with, like all of us, a story to tell.

My journey in OA began at the age of 19, some 32 years ago. I was driven to my first meeting in St. Albans by the lovely lady who is still my sponsor. I will tell you a bit more about the painful, crazy and completely incredible journey I have been on in this fellowship as I, remarkably, celebrated 28 years of abstinence in September last year.

The more 'hats' thrown into the mix, the better!

25th OA Christmas

This Christmas was my 25th as a member of OA. However, I couldn't say it was my 25th abstinent Christmas as my food plan has changed over the years, even eroded at times, and has never been perfect.

... Have I ever been truly abstinent?

Attitude of Gratitude

As I start 2018, I reflect on all the blessings I have been given in 2017.

This is a far cry from the attitude I had during my years of compulsive overeating and all those years of trying to control my inevitable weight gain.

Sponsorship - How Not To . . .

Sponsors are not professionals when they are doing Twelve Step work. They ought to only share or suggest changes that worked for them in their recovery. Sponsors should not issue orders or make demands, for example, when it comes to the use of medications.

... In OA, we are here to care for our members.

OAGB Needs You!

Ideally there should be around  14 OA Great Britain Board members - there are only 4.

If the number of Board members falls to 2, OAGB, its website, literature and phone service, etc., will be forced to close.

Imagine:
No OA Meetings &
No OA Literature . . .

Some countries not only have no OA meetings in their country, but there is no literature in their language. OA has a special Translation Fund to rectify this, to reach out to OAs in those countries.
