Frederic Church: A Painter's Pilgrimage
FEBRUARY 9–MAY 13, 2018
Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage,  organized by the Detroit Institute of Arts, features more than fifty paintings and studies that Church completed during and after his 1867–1869 trip to the Near East, Rome, and Greece. Church specialized in the production of dramatic, large-scale views of well-known but remote places which few members of his public had seen for themselves.

Alice Barsony, theatre collections manager in the department of theatre and dance at Wake Forest University, will discuss Nancy Susan Reynolds's modern style with this evening gown made in 1955 Hattie Carnegie of New York.
 
This series on the first Wednesday of the month features Reynolda House curators, educators, and guests sharing a one-hour, in-depth look at one object—painting, print, sculpture, photograph, or decorative art object.

Join us for storytime on the Lake Porch in the historic house! In this program for pre-readers, we will read children’s books and lead children in activities that relate to the selected stories. For the safety of our visitors and our works of art, strollers are not permitted in the historic house. Front carriers are encouraged. 

For ages 2–5, accompanied by an adult; younger siblings welcome.
