December 2012
I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about a recent report published in 2012 by LGBTQ funders, "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Grantmaking by U.S. Foundations."

This report analyzes the amount of money granted to LGBTQ organizations across the United States in 2011. On Page 7, the report contains a summary table of grants specifically supporting the diverse sub-communities that make up the LGBTQ acronym. Line 7 of this table shows for all the grants analyzed, only 1 grant for $5000.00 directly targeted the bisexual community.

This comes out to 0.0065% of total LGBT grantmaking dollars being directed to bisexuals -- the Report rounds this to 0.00%.

While we all wish this percentage were larger -- It also shows what a tremendous opportunity each one of you has to make a difference!

Anything you can give, whether it is your time, your creativity, or your dollars, will help BiNet USA move our bi/pan/fluid and allied communities forward. We have the talent, the passion, and the ability to make our lives and our communities stronger. But we can't do it without you.

To sign up to volunteer with BiNet USA, please e-mail If you haven't already and you are able, we also urge you to please consider making a donation to BiNet USA. Our entire community will benefit from your time and generosity in the coming year.

Thank You and Happy Holidays,

Faith Cheltenham
BiNet USA President
