Arts

Roosevelt is planning a performing arts gala for February 4th at the Parkway Theatre. We need parent volunteers to help plan the event! Our first planning meeting in on Saturday, December 12th from 9:30-10:30 am at Peace Coffee. Join us to help get this event off the ground and raise money for the performing arts!

Pericles at the Guthrie: Thanks to a Cultural Experiences Partnership with MPS Arts and the Guthrie Theater, all 9th grade students will attend a production of Pericles at the Guthrie Theater on January 26th, 2016. Careeer and College Center (CCC)

Project SUCCESS college tour applications for January, February and March are now available in the Career and College Center.

Pick up an application, fill it out and return it as soon as you can. Tour Schedule is attached.

CTE

On December 8th the RHS Work Based Learning students attended a Junior Achievement Job Shadow event hosted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), of Minneapolis. Students learned the history of the company, heard personal experiences from one of the partners and met volunteers from the various components of PwC. Students rotated through 4 modules: Ethical Decision Making, Mock Interviewing, In's and Out's of Stocks, and a toured the facilities, and were treated to lunch! It was a fun as well as an educational trip, and the view from the upper floors of the Capella Tower was especially unique.

HEALTH CAREERS

NAHA class is finishing up, 10 students are completing their coursework and will head out to their clinicals for 30 hours at a nursing home. They will take their NATO test after this to become certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Care Aides.

OPERATION HOLIDAY BASKET

The best week of the year, OHB kicks off next week!! RHS and YMCA provide holiday meals to 350 families in our community. OUR students, alumni and community members make that possible. Below is the press release that went to community papers.

Homerooms compete against each other to see who can bring in the most canned goods and money. They also compete to see who has the most creative door design!

It's also advisory SPIRIT schedule all week!

Monday...PJ day

Tuesday...Candy Cane Day (wear green, white or red)

Wednesday...Hats for the Holidays (donate $1 or two canned goods to wear your hat all day in school)

Thursday...Ugly Sweater Day

Friday...Maroon and Gold Day

Students wishing to help pack baskets should get a permission slip from Ms. Christol and return it by Wednesday at 3 p.m. NO late slips will be excepted.

Choir IN and OUT of the building

The choir performed at our Winter Arts Showcase and wore red ribbons to show solidarity with Lakeville South HS who lost two students in a car crash and 2 injured one seriously. Inner city sending love to the suburbs.

They also performed at the Mall of America on Thursday!!

20 hours of Service

Per year is expected of every student, every year. If your student needs help figuring out how to get their service hourse, tell them to check in with Ms. Christol in room 100.
