Dr. Craig Goff
From the Pastor

One very common interest found among preachers is a love of reading.  It is an interest I have shared for as long as I can remember.  I love to read, listen to audio books and lectures when I am in the car,  and have a few books on my phone.   While we already have plenty of book shelves in our house, I have just finished one book shelf project with another one on the way.  At any given time, I am usually reading several books...

Thirteen of our Sages are at Lake Junaluska this week enjoying the Festival of Wisdom and Grace. We will be returning on Thursday.

Children's Classes Provide a Biblical Foundation for Faith!

St. Mark's Children's "SPARK" classes provide children Age 2 - Grade 6 with a wonderful, age-appropriate Biblical foundation so that their faith can grow and blossom to maturity!  Classes meet Sunday mornings, 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. and all children are welcome!
We are blessed to have wonderful, dedicated and fun-loving teachers, but are always in need of more persons to guide our children toward Jesus.   If you would be willing to serve on a teaching team or as a class shepherd, please contact Rev. Martha Touchton.

We Need Your Help!

Please help us make sure doors are not blocked open and are locked after church services and activities.

We want to keep our facility safe for our staff and the children who attend our child care program and other events.   If you find an unlocked door and don't have a key please contact any staff member.  Think of the church as you would your home.  Thank you so much for making St. Mark's a great place to worship and serve God.
St. Mark's Staff
The Way of Hope Thanks You

The gas cards donated over the last two months for the Way of Hope's bus and van enabled the ladies and children to be transported to jobs, doctor appointments, host churches, etc.  The cards we gave them in July had just been used up when they were at St Mark's overnight on August 3rd.  We gave them the gas cards donated since July 6 in hopes that this will help get them through another month.  We also provided booklets of Rover passes we purchased with money designated for The Way of Hope.

There were 10 children in August and at least half of them will be taken to school each morning which is an additional drain on their gas money.  This is an ongoing need so anytime you feel that you can donate a gas card it will be greatly appreciated.  Gas cards can be left in the church office with a note indicating they are for The Way of Hope.  Your generosity is appreciated.

Glee Ministry In Need of Volunteers We have been blessed for the past few years to have a wonderful ministry for young special needs friends, the GLEE Room, which stands for God Loves Everyone Equally.  In order for our church to continue responding to this need, a few more willing volunteers are needed to serve during Sunday school and/or 11:00 worship.   If you would be willing to consider serving in this ministry, please contact Rev. Touchton to talk further.

Ring, Ring! Are you passionate about worshipping through music? We need you and your gifts! Consider sharing your musical talents with the Chancel Ringers handbell choir. Open to adults and older youth; basic music reading ability necessary, bell-ringing experience helpful but not required. We are particularly in need of folks for the "sub list" who can fill in when a ringer is unavailable. Chancel Ringers rehearse Sundays from 4:45-6:00 p.m. and play in worship every 4-6 weeks. Contact Rev. Mary Dicken for more information on how you can get involved!
