Next Steps in the Foothills Landscape Collaboration

In 2018, the Forest Service will be working on developing alternatives to the proposed action in the Foothills Landscape Project. They are planning to have a few large workshops and smaller, focused meetings and field trips this spring and summer. The Forest Service wants to work together to find the best way to share feedback during implementation and what accountability will look like, and to  create a multiparty monitoring plan.

The Foothills Interdisciplinary Team will be completing the effects analysis and the environmental document throughout the summer. Then there will be another round of Community Conversations to discuss the anticipated environmental effects of the project. After that, the Forest Service will release the document and have a formal 30-day public comment period in the fall.
Collaborative Workshop - February 14 & 15
The first workshop in 2018 will focus on discussing the feedback received during the scoping period that ended on December 22, 2017. You can review some of the feedback on the project webpage . (U se the "Public Comment/Objection Reading Room" link on the right side of the page.) Click here to read comments submitted by ForestWatch and our partners, SELC and the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club.

The Forest Service wants your feedback to help lay the foundation for the alternatives that will be brought forward for the environmental effects analysis. Please consider attending one or both days of this next workshop if you want to be a part of the conversation.
