Actions for This Week, Keep Showing Up!

Tuesday, February 21: Senate Bill 282 scheduled for Senate Public Affairs Committee (rm 321) at 2:30 OR 30 minutes after the Senate dismisses for the day. Legislative committee hearings are subject to time, date, and/or room change. So please plan to be there by 1:30 p.m.

The Put Patients First Act, would prevent hospitals and urgent care facilities from using religious restrictions to limit a healthcare provider's ability to provide medically accurate and comprehensive information to a patient, including the ability to make referrals or provide reproductive health services when a failure to do so could put a patient's life or health in danger.

Time restrictions won't allow everyone to speak, but your presence says you care. We need to show up to ensure that when a woman seeks medical attention, she should be secure that she will receive the best care possible. She shouldn't have to worry that her care is being compromised by the medical facility's religious affiliation.

Tell them that just because an institution asserts that it's directives are more important than the deeply-held beliefs of a woman accessing care does not make it so. This sort of presumptuous thinking is nothing short of spiritual harassment.

Wednesday; February 22, House Bill 179, Pregnant Worker Protection Act, scheduled for House Judiciary Committee (rm 309) at 1:30 OR 30 minutes after the House dismisses for the day. Legislative committee hearings are subject to time, date, and/or room change. So please plan to be there by 1:00 p.m.

Tell them that we must ensure that pregnant workers can continue to do their jobs and support their families by having access to reasonable accommodations for needs arising out of pregnancy.

 Donations Urgently Needed!!!

We're working overtime to continue our important work of providing compassionate hospitality to patients who are forced to seek abortion care in Albuquerque because of the burdensome restrictions in their home state, and working at the legislative session to make sure those restrictions NEVER affect care in New Mexico. But we can't do it with out you. Please consider making a donation today.
 Save Our Care Bus Tour!

In New Mexico, 266,000 residents would lose coverage if the Affordable Care Act is repealed-and on Wednesday, the Save My Care bus tour met with folks across the state to say #SaveMyCare.
