We are off to another great year at Wilmington City Schools!  As usual, there is a lot going on this fall at WCS.  We've highlighted a few in this newsletter.  Be sure to stay connected to our website and our social media channels for up to date information throughout the school year.

School Picture Days
Lifetouch will be taking our school pictures this fall. In August, the Middle School and the High School will have their pictures taken. You can pre-order your child's pictures online with Lifetouch.


Online ordering opens 2 weeks prior to picture day.  The remaining school picture dates are:
Denver - September 20th
Holmes - September 28th
East End - October 11th

Great News!

The Coffman YMCA will be providing before and after school childcare for K-5 students in the Wilmington City School District. (Formally known as the SACC program.) Child care will be provided at Holmes Elementary School however students attending any elementary building can participate. 

Before school child care begins at 6:30 a.m. and after school child care ends at 6 p.m. Scholarships are also available with appropriate completed paperwork. Registration packets can be picked up at Holmes Elementary School or by emailing the Program Director, Teresa Perry at [email protected].

Deadline is Sept. 9th!

    As of Friday, September 9th 2016 we MUST have a completed 2016/17 application to re-qualify your family in order for your child(ren) to receive meal benefits this program year. Any student who does not have a 2016/17 completed application (or approved via Direct Certification) on file Monday, September 12th, will go on full paid meal status at this time.  


If you received a letter in early August stating your child(ren) have been approved for free meals through our Direct Certification matching process with the State of Ohio, you DO NOT have to fill out a F&R Application.  If any student in your household was missing from the Direct Certification letter you received please call:

School is back in session and our fall athletics program is in full swing. Our first home football game is Friday, August 26th,  against Little Miami. But football's not the only game in town.  You'll find our complete fall schedule on our WCS Athletics website. Let's support all of our teams with #CanePride.

Foundation News

The Wilmington Schools Foundation is proud to announce that it will fund more than 26 Foundation Grants that fund educational endeavors for all schools, will reach all students in each building and is the largest grant investment in the history of the WSF-over $28,000.00.  These funds will also aid the school districts new technology long term goal of affording all students access to Chromebook technology by assisting in purchasing additional Chromebook computers for all three elementary schools. 
 
The Wilmington Schools Foundation is proud of our schools, faculty and staff and is committed to continue to raise funds to support you.  Wilmington Schools Foundation appreciates all you currently do for our schools and students.  We hope you will once again accept our invitation to be a part of the GIFT Campaign in our efforts to help you educate, care for and mentor our students and community.

The Foundation has been chosen by the Wilmington Knights of Columbus to be the beneficiary this year at Oktoberfest on September 23rd and 24th.  If you get a chance, stop by Oktoberfest and help support your Wilmington Schools Foundation!

Check Your Child's Shot Records

The Ohio Department of Health has revised the School Immunization Requirements for 2016-17 and it will impact some of our seniors this year.  We have provided information below regarding the most recent immunization schedule for your convenience.  Once your child is up to date on their vaccinations just send a copy of the record to their school for the file.

Chromebook Reminder

If you have a high school student with a Chromebook and chose the payment plan, the first payment of $25 is due September 2nd (if you have not already made a payment). You can send it in with your student or stop by the high school office between 7 AM and 2:40 PM, Monday through Friday.
