Marshall Elementary Puts Classes Through PBS LearningMedia Training

Angela Hiatt, an educational outreach specialist for IPTV, spent the day at Marshall Elementary in Dubuque, Iowa, on November 25. She worked with grades 4 and 5 as they created PBS LearningMedia accounts and learned how to receive assignments from their teacher's account and submit them. The students had a blast discovering the thousands of pieces of educational content within this site and the teachers are looking forward to using this mobile responsive resource. Contact Angela to request training at your school.

Following the shooting death of a black teenager by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, a panel discusses the complexities around race in this country, in this video from America After Ferguson. History professor Jelani Cobb conveys the deep sense of anger and loss that he observed in Ferguson and how protesters there saw similarities in the teenager's (Michael Brown's) shooting death and those of others, including Trayvon Martin. Actor and playwright Anna Deveare Smith notes that while our society had been considered by some to be in a post-racial era before the events in Ferguson, things are different now. Writer Jason Riley suggests there are groups that have a vested interest in keeping racism alive in America. Learn More
