Martha Visits Local Communities

Children and parents were invited to join Martha, star of Martha Speaks for special story times on Monday, November 3 at the Onawa Public Library and again at the Onawa Elementary School. Martha was available for photos and hugs.

This free program is presented as part of a partnership between the library, school and IPTV's Ready for School initiative, which has provided books, DVDs, iPads and training to local organizations, preschool teachers, and parents.

Martha Speaks, based on the books by Susan Meddaugh, is an animated series on IPTV designed to enrich the vocabulary of 4 to 7 year olds. Each episode uses Martha's unique linguistic abilities and the hilarious consequences to engage children and help build their vocabulary skills. Check out Martha Speaks.

Rosetta has an amazing challenge on its hands. It must answer some fundamental questions in science: what are comets made of, what can they reveal about the evolution of our solar system, and perhaps more importantly, did they help deliver the building blocks of life to earth billions of years ago? To do this Rosetta will conduct two firsts: it will follow a comet as it shoots towards and around the sun, and it will deliver a lander, Philae, onto its surface. Learn More.
