Appalachia: Building Relationships and Ministries that Make a Difference
October 31, 2015 at Pleasant Grove UMC- 9:00 a.m.
Nearly every small town and country congregation understands Jesus' command to feed the hungry within their community.  And while many hold a sincere desire to move beyond food pantries into the realm of "proclaiming Good News to the poor", finding effective means to provide for physical needs without creating unhealthy cycles of dependency can prove far more evasive and challenging.
Making a lasting difference in the lives of Appalachia's working poor and under-employed is the Kingdom Call for people like Dr. Mike Linger, Keith Wasserman and Margaret Madison, the featured presenters at the second installment of the TARRP autumn small-church training event.  In addition to exploring some "best practices" of  local Appalachian missions such as House of the Carpenter, Good Works, and Church 4 All People, participants will gain valuable insight into the culture of poverty and a three-pronged approach to making a lasting impact-Mercy, Justice, and Spiritual Formation.

Registration deadline for this event is October 25.     The cost is a very reasonable $25 per person or $20 each for a team of four or more from the same church or charge.  Registration cost includes lunch and snacks, materials, and .6 Continuing education units.  To register contact Rev. Debra Ketcham at 614-580-2382 or e-mail [email protected]
