Looking west from the Elephant's Head ~ Crawford Notch

Like the breezes blowing through Crawford Notch, August is gathering itself and preparing to make way for September and all that comes with it, most notably, sending the children back to school.

Over the next week, we know how you're going to feel - torn between enjoying the end of summer and ticking off the list of notebooks, knapsacks and new shoes.

But there is still time for a getaway, to make another few summer memories, whether it's a visit to one of our theme parks and attractions, taking a hike simply to look at the view or relax and reflect on the veranda of a grand hotel.

So get that shopping done and plan to pack the car and point it north for a day or two or more next week, before the kids hit the books. The nights are fine for a campfire and s'mores and the days are golden... waiting for you to enjoy them.

We're standing by here at the White Mountains Visitors Center, off exit 32 of Interstate 93 in North Woodstock and we know where to point you for an end of summer getaway. We're also a phone call away at 1-800-346-3687, or you can check out www.VisitWhiteMountains.com, where you will not only find activities for your trip now, but also later in September, as many of our attractions will remain open through mid-October, but with days and hours sometimes different from their summer schedules.
