We don't often get to talk about peak foliage in the White Mountains after Columbus Day, but this year we can as the foliage colors are lingering.
The brightest colors are now twirling in the Mount Washington Valley, as the reds we've enjoyed here in the western side of the mountain have scooted over to join the foliage party in the Conway side. But the yellows and oranges are lingering, so if you are visiting us this weekend, be assured there will be color.
Sounds like the sun may be in and out of hiding the next couple of days, but no matter, the colors will be out. The leaves on an overcast day, especially the yellow ones, absolutely illuminate the landscape.
Our welcome mat is a vast braid of colors this week and we're ready to point you in the right direction to find it. We're on duty at the Visitors Center, off exit 32 of Interstate 93 in North Woodstock, where we answer your calls at 800-346-3687. Our website (www.VisitWhiteMountains.com) is also a helpful resource.
