Christopher Columbus could not know back in 1492 how well timed his discovery of the New World would be, right at the peak of foliage in the White Mountains! Thanks to him, we have a three day weekend that gives us time to do some exploring of our own.
We know we'll see many of you over the holiday and some will be discovering us for the first time. The foliage is in fine form, and, in fact, seems to be taking its time t be sure we have plenty for this weekend and next. Clear blue sunny skies are in the forecast, so it is going to be a terrific weekend.
Along with the foliage, you can find some festivals and celebrations wherever in our neighborhood you are heading . including the Return of the Pumpkin People in Jackson. You know how Oprah has her Ah-Ha moments? Jackson has its Oh Gourd moment each year at this time. (For a complete list of events this week, check our events calendar.)
We urge you to make your reservations before you leave home this weekend, as this is one of the most popular times of the year and lodging will become difficult to find by the time you get here. If you find a traffic tie-up, it's usually because of a fair or craft show up the road, so be prepared to go around those spots and continue on to see the color.
