The Oregon legislature adjourned March 3, 2016 and w e have attached our end of session legislative report that explains budget and policy bills of interest to the IDD community.

The report outlines budget adjustment information for the programs that impact people with IDD, plus summarizes many policy bills that will impact Oregonians with IDD.

We want to thank you for your advocacy during the 2016 legislative session and encourage you to take a moment to thank legislators for the work they did on behalf of Oregonians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), particularly with the Department of Human Services rebalance and the Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education rebalance (our report gives more details about these).

We encourage you to keep in touch with your local legislators throughout the year.  

The next legislative session begins in February, 2017. The 2017 session will last for five months. During that time, legislators will consider many policy bills and set budgets for the 2017-2019 biennium, including the budget for IDD services and other programs that Oregonians with IDD use.

We anticipate that you will have many advocacy opportunities in 2017 as legislators talk about how to make IDD services more sustainable.
