WORD.

Hellllooooo 2017, well, we're off to a bumpy start!
Art shows beauty and truth, stirs the soul, inspires action.  Art comes from your inner reflections, but it can be designed for powerful purposes.  Especially when untruth is masqueraded as truth, art can expose that lie.  Be an artist.

Shout out to Krissy Lavin whose Dubrovnik Harbour sold!  This couple had been yearning for that lovely piece for awhile now, and finally decided to treat themselves!  Congratulations, Krissy!

Although January has been very slow at the Loft, as expected [me, chagrined], we are gonna turn that around this February!   The big annual Downtown Culpeper Carnival  is Saturday, February 25!  Always well attended, bringing lots of people in, with tons of street activities and specials in stores and restaurants.  Here at the Loft we have sales on selected items, and our Memory Box workshop will be going on so people can watch the creative process first hand, talk to artists and get inspired!  Anyone wanting to create work and be seen in a local downtown business there is a Call Out to Artists from CRI below.

The arts a'loft board, our non-profit wing of the Loft, met January 26 to brainstorm ideas for exhibits and other artistic endeavors for 2017.  Managing and scheduling events and polishing up raw ideas; we'll be meeting again February 17 and will be rolling out our 2017 artistic year soon, and first at the next ArtSpeak!  I will be reaching out to all the artists separately for input before hand.  Need players to play.

 We strongly pull creative ideas and collaborators from our ArtSpeak! group.  Want to get involved creatively?  Come to ArtSpeak!  This month we meet on Thursday @ 7 @ the Loft (as always), February 23.  Everyone that is creative or is interested in creative pursuits is welcomed!  It's not only visual artists, but also writers, musicians, and supporters of the arts.  No obligations, no dues.

Please scroll down to view our new workshops and day trips for the first quarter of 2017.  You can sign up now for all the workshops, except the PhotoShop (scope yet tbd).  Definitely sign up for Lou Messa's February 25th Acrylic Painting Workshop NOW, there is only 1 seat available for this Saturday!  Only 1 seat left for our February 15th day trip to VMFA!  3 seats left for Debbie Siday's Memory Box Workshop!

Our monthly FREE photography meetups will be sent out under separate email cover!  Still waiting for confirmation on dates.

Yoga at the Loft continues!  Restarting Friday, Feb 11 @ 5pm!   No Fees.  Donation Only and it all goes to the Culpeper Humane Society!

These are the things I'm dreaming about;
Artistic and clever artwork on outside building walls in Culpeper,
Pod casts of artists, writers and musicians on the Loft's website,
Art on Davis with closed off street, musicians on corners, flash dancing, live works of art, creative demonstrations, crafts and arts for sale, miniature horses strolling down the sidewalk, and
Exhibits that titillate the senses, provoke, and risk offending.  Well, that'd be me.
